PUBLISHED! THE KILLING TREE …THEY SAID IT COULDN’T BE DONE!
Could you really write a novel in a day? The sceptics said it couldn’t be done, but 14 writers proved them wrong when they took part in an innovative writing workshop during last year’s Ashby Arts Festival and wrote the first draft of a 50, 000 word novelette in just one day!
“Amazingly, we received a lot of sceptical comments from industry professionals over this workshop,” said Sue, one of the workshop leaders. “We were told that it would be akin to painting by numbers, but both Lois and I felt that was an insult to the ingenuity and imagination of writers in general who by their very nature are creative people. The Killing Tree has fortunately proved us right and has turned out even better than we expected! Each of the fourteen writers worked on one or more chapters following a pre-written plot, but were encouraged to give their own slant and style to the story. The result is The Killing Tree, an eclectic mix of humour, thought provoking satire and cheeky swipes at stuffy establishment values.”
The book is due to be released at the 2007 Ashby Arts Festival launch on Thursday, 5th July which takes place at the Lyric Rooms, South Street, Ashby de la Zouch at 7.00 pm where copies will be available for purchase. Further copies can be obtained from Ashby Tourist Information Office, price £5.50. Tel. 01530 411767
