Sheriff launches Robin Hood Fund
The fund is aimed at supporting community and voluntary groups across Nottinghamshire over two years. The money has been provided by East Midlands Development Agency (emda) and will be managed Nottinghamshire Community Foundation (NCF).
The Robin Hood Fund was formally launched at emda’s Nottingham head quarters on Friday 22nd June.
The aim of the Robin Hood Fund is to increase quality of life for the communities within Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County. It will do this by:
- helping people to realise their full potential and work effectively together to enrich our lives and communities
- increasing life chances for everyone - leading to stronger and more cohesive communities, a dynamic society and stronger economy
- ensuring all people and communities have the opportunity to create new and sustainable economic futures.
Councillor Jeannie Packer, Sheriff of Nottingham said: "We should all be grateful for the monies allocated by emda through Nottinghamshire Community Foundation. It is a significant sum, and I know it will benefit parts of the local community who struggle to cover their costs and make a real difference."
Simon Feneley, CEO of Nottinghamshire Community Foundation, a charitable body, added: “We are delighted to have secured this new stream of income for the county and look forward to funding many projects and initiatives over the next two years which will help build up resources and provide sustainability for local people across the county.
Sue Kirby, Policy and Communications Director for emda said: “The Robin Hood Fund will complement the vision for the East Midlands to become a flourishing region by supporting and creating more cohesive and dynamic communities across Nottinghamshire.”
