A new artist-led programme of site-specific works
Arts in the Peak has been commissioned by Derbyshire County Council and Derbyshire Arts Development Group to explore the potential for an ongoing programme of site-specific contemporary art commissions across Derbyshire.
Our proposal is that the programme should be artist-led, and we would like to initiate discussion with visual artists on their ideas for the programme.
Artists will be invited to make initial proposals, a number of which will then be selected to receive small-scale bursaries of 250 each to be further developed. These will then form the basis of funding bids for the ongoing programme, so if you would like to propose an idea then you need to be at one of our consultation meetings in Wirksworth, Chesterfield or in South derbyshire (date and venue to be confirmed), for visual artists from the centre, north and south of the county.
At the meetings David Gilbert from Arts in the Peak will tell you more about the proposals for the programme, and there will be an opportunity to discuss your initial proposals and how to submit them. He will also talk about the work of Arts in the Peak and potential funding for creative businesses from the New Environmental Economy programme.
