EMRAF Seminar ‘Community Safety in Market Towns’

This seminar is organised through the EMRAF Market Towns Group, which aims to be the regional champion of market towns to support the development and improve the vitality of towns as hubs providing a wide range of services and employment opportunities for rural areas.

This is the first event organised by the group and it aims to support the sharing of good practice, facilitate networking and provide updates on current thinking in addressing market towns issues.

This event will be of interest to anyone interested in market towns issues, including: Town centre managers, Local authority economic development officers, staff of emda ans Sub-regional Strategic Partnerships, business sector representatives, town councillors, local authority councillors

10.00 - Registration & coffee

10.30 - Welcome to emda: Andrew Morgan, skills and communities director, emda

10.35 - Introduction to EMRAF: Derk van der Wardt, EMRAF Co-ordinator

10.40 - Introduction to the EMRAF Market Towns Group; Its aims and activities: Jim Hanrahan, Chair (Also Clerk to Newark Town Council)

11.00 - Managing the evening economy - Mansfield’s success story: Diana Hobson, Town centre manager (plus questions & answers)

11.30 - Business continuity in market towns: Eric Jeffrey, Business Continuity Officer, Leicestershire county council (plus questions & answers)

12.00 - Antisocial behaviour and neighbourhood policing: Insp. Richard Hiom, Leicestershire Constabulary. (plus questions & answers)

12.30 - Lunch

The seminar will take place at the offices of emda in Nottingham on March 6th 2007 from 10am – 1pm and will include a light lunch.
