PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS

WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND

The heritage protection system managed by local authorities is changing. Regeneration is changing too. This is your chance to make sure the opportunities in your area’s heritage are recognised.

This event is for: Local Authority Members, Chief Executives and managers, especially Heritage Champions and those responsible for Planning, Regeneration and Culture; people working in regeneration and environmental projects and local strategic partnerships; amenity societies and voluntary and community organisations.

Make your heritage work for you is one of a series of sub-regional summits which will result in a Prospectus for the Historic Environment in the East Midlands. This will be presented to regional decision-makers and used to ensure that the region’s heritage is understood, valued and harnessed at all levels.

OUTLINE OF THE DAY

The morning will start with an up-to-the-minute briefing on all the developments which will affect the future of the heritage in your area.

Interactive sessions will then explore the issues in greater depth: identifying the key priorities for your local heritage, to inform emda’s investment framework - developing the leadership and capacity needed, across the public, private and voluntary sectors, so that the historic environment plays its full part in your locality.

The afternoon is an opportunity for anyone who works in conservation to develop the skills and knowledge they need to drive forward their local heritage agenda
